SCUHAG Annual General Meeting was held in August . Positions were filled as follows,
Chair – M. Mileham
Vice Chair – K. Ricketts
Treasurer – B. Freebody
Secretary – A. Loveday
Most residents will have seen the preparation work for the widening of the Kawana Way adjacent to the hospital site began in July.
Ramsay will begin construction of the private hospital soon. Opening in 2013 it will be a welcome addition to our health system.
This year SCUHAG has had a number of reports of shortage of private beds here on the coast.
This puts even more pressure on the already overworked public system.
Once the private hospital is open we should see a reduction of some patients travelling to Brisbane for treatment.
At present 3 companies [Exemplar Health, Sunshine Health Partners and Salus Partnership ] are vying for the contract to build the public hospital.
Early 2012 should see the contract finalised and the start of the building of our much needed facility
The outlook is promising with everything on schedule at present.
Regardless SCUHAG will remain vigilant to ensure history never repeats.
